As the World Council of Churches prepares for its 11th Assembly in 2021, a special “virtual” issue of the WCC’s journal International Review of Mission is now available online presenting a set of 12 articles published following the WCC’s previous assembly in 2013 in Busan, Republic of Korea.
“They demonstrate high‐level theological and missiological reflection, intellectual capacity, energy, inspiration, and creativity, all of which have been put to the service of what is the essential task of the church: to be one that the world may believe,” writes the Rev. Dr Risto Jukko, director of the WCC’s Commission on World Mission and Evangelism, in an introduction to the articles.
Titled “Mission Perspectives after Busan,” the online issue covers a wide range of themes including the WCC mission affirmation, Together Towards Life; Orthodox perspectives on mission, gender, and theological education; transforming discipleship and reflections from the standpoint of marginalized peoples; African women in mission; leadership of people with disabilities in God’s mission; and the development of “fresh expressions” of being church.
